1.0 ABOUT YAKMATE A1.1 What is YAKMATE all about ? Yakmate is about giving you and everybody else in the wider community the equal opportunity to be SEEN & HEARD on any issue of concern / point of view by Submitting a VIDEO & COMMENTS of that issue / point of view. As part of the process you will nominate an ELECTED REPRESENTATIVE that you wish to assist you and also send them a notice that you have posted your issue along with their name on YAKMATE for ALL to View. It is hoped that with a combination of EXPOSURE of your issue to the Wider Community (and their Support) along with recording your formal notification to your Nominated ELected Representative that this initiates ACTION by those responsible resulting in CLOSURE of your Issue. A1.2 What is the point of YAKMATE ? Yakmate provides the opportunty to its members to put a face to their issue by way of submitting a video and contacting the nominated Elected Representative to advise them of the Yakmate Video (YV) number for them to View YOU & YOUR ISSUE. Actions taken, or lack thereof, can be recorded for ALL in the Wider Community to view. YAKMATE also provides the access / contact point to other Members who have the same or similar issue so they can easilt communicate with each other via the YAKMATE COMMENT FORUMS Private Messaging Facility. A1.3 Who & What is YAKMATE Targeted at ? Yakmate is Targeted at Highlighting Bungling Bureaucratic Processes, Poor Policy, Lazy Legislation, Sloppy Systems and Doubtful Decisions that may be having a negative impact on you and possibly the wider community. It is also Targeted at Educating and Notifying our Elected Representative and Bureaucrats where community needs are simply NOT being adequately met by existing processes & methodology. A1.4 How did YAKMATE come about ? Yakmate evolved from the saying ' You Are Kidding, Mate '. Jingoes Jack found himself thinking this more frequently after reading, hearing or viewing various stories of people needing help and not recieving it or decisions being made by our Elected Representatives that simply did not seem fair, resonable or logical. After thinking about these instances of INANE action or inaction and / or DOPEY decisions delivered Jingoes Jack made a crucial observation. He observed that individuals that were able to get their predicament highlighted in the Media seemed to get positive results in a timely manner. Why ? The answer was obvious ... the Actions or lack thereof of those that should help were now open to the Wider Community to Scutinise the situation. This Public Scutiny could measure ones Actions & ACCOUNTABILITY for such. Jingoes Jack decided to do something about this for ALL the others that were not selected to have their issue featured in the media. The Idea of YAKMATE was born ! A1.6 How do I become a YAKMATE Member ? To Join Yakmate you will need to complete & submit a Membership form via the YAKMATE LOGIN Page. As part of the Membership Submission process you will be asked to provide personal details as well as create a YAKMATE Username & Password. Your YAKMATE Webiste LOGIN Username & Password are used to also give you LOGIN access to the YAKMATE COMMENT FORUMS & JACK'S BLOG. As part of the Membership process you will also be asked to confirm you have read the YAKMATE TERMS OF USE & PRIVACY POLICY. If you DO NOT agree with these then you should not Submit a Membership Application to join YAKMATE. A1.7 What is a YM Number & what is it used for ? When you Complete & Submit your Membership Form to YAKMATE then you will be allocated a unique YAKMATE MEMBER (YM) Number. The YM Number along with your Username & Password will be sent to you in a Welcome Email. 2.0 COMMENTS - FORUMS - JACK'S BLOG - TWITTER A2.1 Where do the Comments I submit with my Video go ? When you Submit your Video to YAKMATE on the YOUR YAK Page you will also be required to submit comments in relation to your Issue. Here you can summarise your Issue / Point of View in a maximum of 1000 characters. Once you have completed the Video Submission form your Comments are sent automatically to the YAKMATE COMMENT FORUMS. You can Access the YAKMATE COMMENT FORUMS via the COMMENTS Page. You can Update or Close your comments via the UPDATE Button on the YOUR YAK Page. Go to the COMMENTS & YOUR YAK Pages for more info. | ||
A2.2 How do I Add to or Close my Submitted Comments ? Your comments on the YAKMATE COMMENT FORUMS can be Updated or Closed a few ways. You can Access the YAKMATE COMMENT FORUMS on the COMMENTS Page or Use the UPDATE Button on the YOUR YAK Page. The Update process via the UPDATE Button is quick and you do not have to login to the actual YAKMATE COMMENTS FORUM. This is also more convenient if you have a number of Video Submissions. By using this pathway you can UPDATE or CLOSE your Submissions. If you choose to CLOSE your Submiaaion then your Video will no longer be able to be accessed / viewed and your Comments will be Automatically Moved from the ACTIVE TOPICS FORUM to the CLOSED TOPICS FORUM. A2.3 How do I Access / View the Comments on the YAKMATE COMMENT FORUMS ? The YAKMATE COMMENT FORUMS can be accessed via the FORUM Button on the COMMENTS Page or via the CLICK HERE Links alongside the Video Viewing Window on the VIDEO Page. Accessing the Comments via the FORUM Button on the COMMENTS Page takes you to the YAKMATE COMMENT FORUMS Board Index where you will need to search through all the TOPICS Submitted. You can Use the YAKMATE COMMENT FORUMS Search Facility to find your Posted comment(s). Your Username is shown as the author of each Comment Posted. When a Video has been selected to be viewed on the VIDEO Page you will note that there are details of the Issue Submission in a Table to the Right of the Video Viewing Window. Below this Table there are a few CLICK HERE Links which when selected will open another window to take you directly to the individual Post of the comments submitted with the Video in the YAKMATE COMMENT FORUMS Active Topics. A2.4 How do I use the YAKMATE COMMENT FORUMS ? To Use the YAKMATE COMMENT FORUMS you will need to be a YAKMATE Member and use your YAKMATE Username & Password to LOGIN to the FORUM to Have Your Say, Mate ! The YAKMATE COMMENT FORUMS consist of Comments Submitted with a Video as well as JACK'S BLOG POLLS for Members to Participate in by casting their Vote. The VIDEO Submission Comments are Automatically Posted to the ACTIVE Topics FORUM. Here Members and Guests can view the comments while YAKMATE Members can actively respond / reply to the comments. When you chosse to CLOSE a Submission your Comments are AUTOMATICALLY Moved from the ACTIVE to the CLOSED Topics FORUM. Using the YAKMATE COMMENT FORUMS there is also a Facility for YAKMATE Members to Communicate with each other via the Forum User Control Panel > Private Messaging Option. The YAKMATE COMMENT FORUMS have their own FAQ (Frequently Asked Question) facility which provides the user with Answers to most Questions relating to the use of the FORUMS. A2.5 How do I send my Comments to an ELected Representative ? As part of the YAKMATE YAK'D & YAK'M Process you need to ensure your Nominated Elected Representative is made FULLY AWARE of your Video Submission. It is suggested that you use the POLITICIAN / COUNCIL CONTACTS links on the LINKS Page or at the Bottom (Footer) of each YAKMATE Website Page to find the required contact details of your Nominated Elected Representative. Use these contact details to Call them on the Phone, Send them an Email and write to them. The More Avenues you use and RECORD that you have done so the less the WIGGLE ROOM they have to say they were ' NOT AWARE of YOUR ISSUE '. Each time you make some form of contact make note of the ' INITIALS ' (only) of the person you spoke to, the date / time and the response you received then update your comments. If you are not a Member then Click on the YAKMATE Webiste link which will take you to the YAKMATE Intro page where you can Enter the site and then Join YAKMATE. Depending on the TOPIC Your Added Comments may in fact be held for MODERATION by Jingoes Jack. If for any reason Jingoes Jack believes the comments are not Appropriate or Contravene the TERMS OF USE CONDITIONS, PROVACY POLICY or the General Spirit of the YAKMATE Website then the Submitted Comment May NOT be Approved. 3.0 LINKS A3.1 How do I add a site to the YAKMATE LINKS Page ? Jingoes Jack & YAKMATE Welcomes requests (by Members) for a Link to a Site to be added to the LINKS Page. At present Jingoes Jack is interested in adding other Websites that are of benefit to the Wider Community. There is obviously no cost involved in being added to the YAKMATE LINKS Page and there would be no requirement for a reciprocal link to be provided (although it would be appreciated) back to YAKMATE. It is hoped that Users of the YAKMATE Website may also use the LINKS Page as a Portal to these other Websites. You will note there are a Few RESERVED Positions at present which have been set aside for other parties who YAKMATE has recently contacted regarding their inclusion on this page. The Online Petitions will be added as a Quick Link in the Right Hand column of the LINKS Page to a Summary of the Online Petition being provided in the Main Centre Column. To submit your request for an Online Petition to be added to the YAKMATE LINKS Page please send an Email with your YAKMATE MEMBER Number & Username along with the details of the site & link you wish added. 5.0 POLITICIAN CONTACT DETAILS A5.1 Where do I find Details to Contact the Elected Representative ? You can locate the contact details you require for ALL Elected Representatives (at ALL Levels of Government - LOCAL, STATE & FEDERAL) on the POLITICIAN / COUNCIL CONTACTS Page. Links to this Page Appear in the Fotter of Each YAKMATE Webpage as well as on the LINKS Page under Government Directories and also on the VIDEO Page alonside the Video Viewing Window via a CLICK HERE Link. As Part of the YAK'M & YAK'D Process you will need to Contact the Nominated Elected Representative that you entered in your initial Video Submission so you can advise them of the YV (YAKMATE VIDEO) number to enter to View your Video. It is recommend that once you have the Contact Details that you send them an Email, Snail Mail notice & also contact them by phone to advise them of your issue. A5.2 How do I Find Details of the Elected Representative that is responsible for the Area / Portfolio that my Issue falls under ? Once you have Accessed the Contact details you will note that for STATE & FEDERAL related issues that there is a Dedicated Elected Representative who is allocated a Ministerial Portfolio that should be able to assist you. i.e. If your Issue is Health or Hospital Related then the Minister for Health is your Contact, if it is an Environmental issue then the Minister for the Environment and so on. You do not necessarily need to nominate the Actual Minister (although that may be the best choice) in your Video Submission. You may wish to nominate the STATE or FEDERAL representative for your area to seek their assistance. For ALL LOCAL Issues use the MAYOR or SHIRE PRESIDENT as your nominated Elected Represntative. 6.0 PRIVACY INFORMATION A6.1 What does YAKMATE do with my Personal Information ? YAKMATE requires you provide certain Personal Information as part of the Membership Submission Process. This information is used for identification verification purposes of YAKMATE Members in relation to their ongoing Membership. This information will be used for Lost Password / Username retirieval & also for administration purposes to check the bona fides of requests for changes of Membership Details (Email accounts, Contact Details). All Personal Information is recorded & stored electronically in the YAKMATE Membership Database. The LOGIN Page you will note is a https (not http) page. The additional ' s ' indicates it uses encrypted data via SSL (Secure Socket Layer) technolgy. All information provided on the LOGIN Page is transmitted across the internat from your computer to the YAKMATE Website hosting company using SSL. YAKMATE will never on sell your personal information. It may howvere use your information for internal statistical anaysis of users of the site. YAKMATE will not divulge your personal information and all reasonable efforts (SSL) have been undertaken to protect this information from misues. The YAKMATE Secret Question is used Primarily in the YAKMATE Lost Password & / or Username Retrieval process. 8.0 VIDEOS A8.1 How do I make a Video, Upload & Submit it to YAKMATE ? In this Fast expanding Digital Age there are numerous Electronic Devices which have a Video Capture Facility included as a standard feature. From a Dedicated Video Recorder, a Digital Camera, to Mobile Phones, you can easily & quickly capture, store or even send Videos (e.g MMS via your Mobile Phone). To accomodate this Most Computers have some form of Video Handling / Editing Software Facility available to manage the Video Files. So for your first step you need to have a video recording device and in most instances a Computer Software Package to Fine Tune & Edit your Video. If however you are using your Mobile Phone as mentioned below you can send the Video directly via a MMS message. As mentioned on the HOME Page YAKMATE is a AGGREGATION Point for Videos of YAKMATE Members & their issue / point of view. YAKMATE does not store the actual Videos but it provides an Access point Link to that Viodeo by you submitting the YouTube allocated URL link Location to the Video content. YAKMATE uses the existing service option provided by YouTube so you can share your Video via a Website (YAKMATE) by you providing the allocated YouTube URL to YAKMATE. So the Second step after creating your Video is to UPLOAD it to YouTube. You must join YouTube to be able to UPLOAD your Videos. I have provided some sample YouTube Screenshots & a Video along with instructions on how to Join YouTube, as well as how to Upload your Video. Click on the link below to view these Screen shots. You have three options to Upload your VIDEO to YouTube. 1. You can Upload a LIVE Video (Quick Capture - Option) directly from your Computer via your Web Cam & Microphone. Using this method it does not give you the option to have a pre-edited version to upload, however you will be given the option to review your efforts before you choose to upload or delete and try again. 2. You can Upload an EXISTING Pre-recorded & edited Video file stored on your Compter. 3. You can upload a Video DIRECTLY from your Mobile Phone that you have captured. ALL three options are fully explained along with Screen Shots and available via the CLICK HERE ! link above which has the Screen shots, text and a Video to assist you. Whichever method you use you will be asked to provide a Title for your Video and it is here you can Highlight the Main Area of your Issue. e.g. Titles :Health - Hospitals - Waiting Lists or Environment - Waterways Degredation or Transport - Horse and Buggy would be Quicker ! When you successfully Upload your Video to YouTube your Video will be given a Unique URL. This is shown in the Sample Screen shots. It is this URL that you Click on to Highlight, then Copy & Paste it (along with the Video Title) into the Video Submission Form on the YOUR YAK Page. NOTE: Only Videos that are UPLOAD to YouTube first will be accepted by the YAKMATE Video Submission Process. If you attempt to Upload another Video you will receive and error message. Upon successfully completing the Video Submission Form on the YOUR YAK Page and submitting it to YAKMATE you will be sent a YV (YAKMATE VIDEO) Number via Email. This is the Number you use to identify your Video and that you can pass to your Nominated Elected Representative for them to View your Video, Mate ! Once your Video has been Submitted to YAKMATE you & the Wider Community will be able to View your Video on the YAKMATE VIDEO Page in the Video Viewing Window. A8.2 Do I need to be Identified in the Video ? The short answer is NO you do not. It is somewhat dependant on the Issues or Point of View that your Video is about that determines whether it is or is not more effective to be seen personally in your Video. If your Video is a Personal Plea for Help then perhaps putting a Face to the Issue would be the best option. If your Video may be about a Topic like the Environment or Degraded Facilities / Infrastructure or Development Issues etc then showing the Actual Issue at hand perhaps with your Voice Over in the Background may be more beneficial. A8.3 Why Submit a Video to YAKMATE using YOUTUBE ? A GOOD Question ! YouTube has the Facility for you to Upload & Store your Video of your Issue / Point of View. YAKMATE does not have this capability. YouTube allows its members to share their uploaded videos with others by Copying the YouTube Allocated Video URL & providing this as a Link on another Website to YouTube. When Someone slelects your Video on the YAKMATE VIDEO Page then your Video will appear on the YAKMATE Video Page Viewing Window. In that Window you are on the YouTube Site. YAKMATE provides the Facility to have all Issues that are Similar or the Same in nature to be aggregated in the one place & easiliy searched on & viewed. YAKMATE also provides an Aggregation Focal Point for Members who may have a similar or same Issue so they can easily communicate with each other on the YAKMATE COMMENT FORUMS via the FORUMS User Control Panel Private Messaging Facility. In Submitting your YouTube Video URL to the YAKMATE Website for others to View your Video you would have Nominated an Elected Representative as part of the Submission Process. By Notifying the Elected Representative via the YAK'M & YAK'D Process of the allocated YAKMATE YV Number you have formally ' assigned ' the Elected Representative to your Issue. Assignment of your Issue does not Assign Any Blame but does Assign an Expectation of assistance from that Elected Representative. By recording the response, actions or lack thereof by the Elected Representatives in the YAKMATE COMMENT FORUMS Topic for your issue it provides Scrutiny & an element of Accountability into the equation. Each & Every Time your Video is Viewed so is the Name of the Elected Representative you have nominated to assist you. So YAKMATE allows Members to Communicate directly with each other, Aggregates Access to all their Videos in the one place creating a Focus point and Assigns an Elected Representative to your Video / Issue. A8.4 How do I CLOSE a Video Submission ? A Submission can be CLOSED via the UPDATE BUTTON on the YOUR YAK Page. The Update Button initiates the UPDATE Process where you have the choice of Updating Comments (in the YAKMATE COMMENT FORUMS) of your issue or actually CLOSING your Submission. When you choose the CLOSE Option then two actions will take place. 1. Your VIDEO will be removed from being able to be Accessed and Viewed on the VIDEO Page. 2. Your Comments submitted with your Original Submission & any other Comments added by you or Members will be Moved from the ACTIVE TOPICS FORUM to the CLOSED TOPICS FORUM. The Comments will still be able to be Viewed but no frther comments can be added. If you Close an Issue by Mistake then you will need to contact YAKMATE via Email to advise such: admin@yakmate.com.au If you have Closed the Submission then even though you will no longer be able to see the Video on YAKMATE VIDEO Page you will still be able to view the VIDEO on YouTube itself. 9.0 YAKMATE YAK'M & YAK'D
PROCESS A9.1 How do I YAK'M & advise someone they have been YAK'D ? To be YAK'D refers to the act of a YAKMATE Member Nominating an Elected Representative being on the YAKMATE Video Submission Form. To YAK'M is to Notify the Elected Reprentative that they have been Nominated (YAK'D) to assist you with the Issue / Point of View as detailed in your Video & Comments. So to YAK'M you need to Use the POLITICIAN / COUNCIL CONTACT Link at the bottom of each YAKMATE Website page to find the contact details of your Nominated Elected Representative. Once you have these you should use ALL Conact Avenues available (Email, Snail Mail & Phone ) to make contact with them and provide them with your YV Number relating to your Video. All Contacts & Responses (or Lack Thereof) should be recorded in your Comments Posted on the YAKMATE COMMENT FORUMS. If you cannot contact the Elected Reprentative themselves then ensure you get the Initials (only) of the person you dealt with and record that along with the date & time of your contact. DO NOT BE PASSIVE & Simply wait for a Response. Continually attempt to make contact on a Regular basis & Record such on each attempt in your Posted Comments on the YAKMATE COMMENT FORUMS Topic for your issues ! Posting your Video and making one attempt of contact then just waiting is often not enough on your part (although it should be) to get a response and some form of assistance. So Make an attempt to Contact and Update your comments a Minimum of Once Per Week. DO NOT GIVE UP !
