WHAT IS YAKMATE ? The word YAKMATE is derived from the term ... You Are Kidding MATE ! YAKMATE is a Meeting Pace & Aggregation Focal Point for all of the Community to use so they can Highlight their Individual Issue or Point of View for the Wider Community to View & Comment on. It is obvious that some People in the Community feel they are increasingly being trapped in Bungling Bureaucratic Processes & Systems or are Victims of Poor Public Policy & / or Lazy Legislation. YAKMATE is NOT about EQUALITY, it is however, ALL about EQUALITY of OPPORTUNITY ! YAKMATE is Primarily based on providing a Platform for People in the Community to be both Seen & Heard by way of Posting a Video & Comments detailing their Situation & to Assign this to the Elected Representative they Nominate to Act on their behalf to Assist them. YAKMATE is here to Target Issues our Elected Representatives need to or should be addressing. Nominating an Elected Representative when submitting your Video to YAKMATE does NOT Assign any Blame to them but it DOES Assign a Responsibility for them to both Contact & Assist you in some way ! Each & Every time your Video is Viewed on the YAKMATE VIDEO Page so is the Name of the Elected Reprentative you have Submitted to YAKMATE ! YAKMATE Members will ensure that they Notify the Nominated Elected Representative about the Video of the Issue they need assistance with as an essential step in the YAK'M & YAK'D Process. YAKMATE Aggregates Your Video (URL) & Issue along with other YAKMATE Member Submissions All in the One Place & Assigns each to a Nominated Elected Representative. It also enables YAKMATE Members to communicate with each other Openly or Privately via the YAKMATE COMMENT FORUMS, The Actions (or lack thereof) taken by your Nominated Elected Representaives can be Recorded in the YAKMATE COMMENT FORUMS. This provides an element of Accountability. Anyone in the Community can View Videos & Comments on YAKMATE. Only YAKMATE Members will be able to actually Submit Videos & Comments. YAKMATE is about ensuring there is Accountability assigned to the way your issue is treated through Public Scrutiny of the Actions taken (or lack thereof) of those responsible to help you. HOW TO USE YAKMATE ! To Submit any Content to YAKMATE you will need to become a YAKMATE Member. As a YAKMATE Member your Membership Automatically Registers you for Access to both the YAKMATE COMMENT FORUMS & JACK'S BLOG. The same YAKMATE Username & Password is used for Access to the COMMENT FORUMS & JACK'S BLOG. CREATE >>> UPLOAD >>> NOMINATE >>> SUBMIT >>> NOTIFY >>> RECORD >>> UPDATE >>> CLOSE 1. Create your Video, 2. Upload it to YouTube, If you are Not Familar with how to Create your Video or how to use YouTube then click on the CLICK HERE ! link on the YOUR YAK Page ! 3. Nominate an Elected Representatives name, on the YOUR YAK Page Submission Form, who you are directing your video to and who you wish to assist you with your issue. This assigns your issue to your Nominated Elected Representative ! 4. Submit the YouTube allocated URL & associated Comments on the YOUR YAK Page Submission Form to be shared & viewed with the Wider Community & YAKMATE Members. Your submitted comments will automatically be sent, as a New Topic, to and posted in, the YAKMATE COMMENT FORUMS. This ties together those in the community with the same or similar Issue / Point of View ! 5. Notify the Elected Representative of your Issue & Video & that Every time the Video is Viewed on the YAKMATE VIDEO Page their name will also appear alongside the Video, This should ensure you do not get told " We are not aware of your issue !" 6. Record the Elected Representatives Response (or Lack Thereof) as well as YAKMATE Member Comments on your issue in the YAKMATE COMMENT FORUMS, This should ensure the Elected Representative is aware they will be held Accountable for their Response & Actions Taken ! 7. Update your Comments in the YAKMATE COMMENT FORUM Topic created for your issue and also your Issue status via the UPDATE Button on the YOUR YAK Page. 8. Closure for You & Your Issue, Mate ! HOW DID YAKMATE COME TO BE ? The Creation of YAKMATE was initially a thought by Jingoes Jack after a variety of Issues raised in the Media had him repeatedly thinking to himself ' You Are Kidding MATE ... this is just not right ! ' Jingoes Jack observed that EXPOSURE of Issues to the Wider Community via the Media was not only often a Persons last resort at attempting to get a solution to their problem but when Highlighted in the Media it was extremely effective in getting a Positive Outcome in a Timely Manner ! We see this time & time again on the Various Current Affairs Style shows each day ! Should this be the Accepted NORM ? It raised the question in Jingoes Jack's mind as to WHY IS THIS SO & WHAT ABOUT ALL THE OTHERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE ? Jingoes Jack Contemplated what he could do about this Situation. He came up with the Idea of his THEORY OF RE-ELECTIVITY ! He realised that Public Scrutiny & Discussion initiated by the media Exposure of the issue seemed to Energise, Motivate & Focus the attention of the Elected Representaives & Authorities resulting in both Action & Closure of the Issue. PUBLIC x (SCRUTINY + DISCUSSION) = EXPOSURE = (ACTION + CLOSURE) x AUTHORITIES On one side, the Scrutiny of these Issues by the Media (Video & Printed) with the Ensuing Open Discussion by the Wider Community results in EXPOSURE which has the effect on the other side of ACTION being Taken by those Authorities responsible to resolve the Issue to a point where a solution for the Issue is found providing CLOSURE. EXPOSURE = ACTION + CLOSURE ! Our Elected Representatives seem to react quicker than a 100m Sprinter on Steroids to find a solution for a 'bad media event' (bad publicity) to get a solution for the issue & have it removed out of the current Media cycle and hence the Public's mind. It is hoped the Profile of YAKMATE, through the support of the Community in using the site, Elevates it to a Trusted Position where it is generally recognised by All as being able to assist people in the Community in achieving Positive Outcomes for their Issue. THE INDIVIDUAL & THE COLLECTIVE ! Deficiencies in Current Systems & Processes are easily glossed over on an Individuals Report of an Issue & therefore as a result it is Not necessarily always handled in the Best Possible (or Even Positive) Manner for the person needing a solution. As an Individual you are obviously treated as a Single Number. However with All Issues / Points of View of a similar nature or in fact the same available from the one site (YAKMATE) then these Individuals instantly become a Collective. All the Videos together being open to Full Public Scrutiny makes for a more substantial entity to be dealt with ! There is the Old Adage & Proven Results of Strength in Numbers ! You may find that an Individual's Issue is in fact a Wider Community Issue that there may be a Systemic Fault impacting on many other people. What if this is the case & your Issue is also being experienced by Numerous other people ? What if they are all being treated so as they feel they are the only one with the problem ? How would anyone know ? YAKMATE IS HOW ! Do not simply accept a standard departmental response in the form of ... ' No Real Solution for You Mate, but Plenty of Yak - Yakkety - Yak ! ' You can now put a Face to Your Issue & make your case directly to the Elected Representaive you Nominate to Assist you to find a solution. It is hoped that YAKMATE will become the Prime Port of Call for the Community to be both Seen & Heard as well as for our Elected Representatives to become fully aware of, your issue, their responsibilities to act on your behalf & that their Actions are Actively being monitored ! OFTEN THE FIRST STEP FORWARD TO HELP YOURSELF ... MAY IN FACT BE A STEP BACKWARDS TO HELP ANOTHER ! As a Community we can all help each other in showing support for those experiencing difficulties by contacting the Nominated Elected Representative shown alongside each Video. SO ... ABOUT POLITICIANS & BUREAUCRATS ! Some commonly held Views when it comes to Politicians in all Levels of Government are : 1. They all have a Motive to Enter Politics be it Altruistic in nature or an Underlying Self Interest. 2. If Elected they can pursue their Motive to the full extent within certain Political & Time Constraints. 3. They want & need to be Re-Elected to keep their Initial Motive / Reason Alive ! 4. They refuse to give you a basic YES or NO Answer to many simple questions. The Current Political Standard Modus Operandi Instruction Handbook seems to have : 1. Non-Commitalese replacing English 2. Contrived Truths & Spin replacing Honesty & Reality 3. Poor Politically Based Decisions replacing Logic & Common Sense 4. Black & White are now varying shades of Grey 5. The spelling of the word Transparency as >>> OPAQUE ! 6. Supposed Easy Access to FOI (Freedom Of Information) is in fact quite often Easy Access to SOI (Suppression Of Information) ! The Politician & the Bureaucrat. While the Politician Frames the Legislation it is the Bureaucrat that Frames the System to Operate it ! It seems a generally held view, rightly or wrongly so, that while Politicians may Come & Go ... Bureaucrats just Grow & Grow! Remember that a Politician if not Actually doing what they should be, through Personal Choice or because they are ' Towing the Party Policy Line ' must at all times, at the very least, be Seen / Percieved to be doing as they should ! It seems increasingly so that many a Politician simply operate under a Policy of 'Out of Sight Out of Mind' & will only give an issue their undivided attention & actually act when they are aware their response is being Scrutinised by the Wider Community ! Politicians not only want to be wanted they need to be wanted so... THEY CAN BE RE-ELECTED ! Politicians do not want & certainly do not need Negative Media Exposure of any Issue, yet that is often exactly what is required to get them to take Action to find a solution. The more Negative Exposure the more ammunition for their opposition, which is to be avoided at all costs! So where the Politician wants to steer clear of it, the Community needs it to get the cogs turning in our Government Systems & to " ENERGISE " our Elected Representatives into Action ! Bureaucrats run the Federal, State & Local Government / Council Departments. The majority of Bureaucrats want to operate at the highest possible level that their abilities allow them to, in the performance of their duties. However, some do not ! In some circumstances it is a process issue within the existing system that sees both the person attempting to help and the individual or group needing the help, hamstrung. Is it Lazy Legislation, a Sloppy System, a Bungling Bureaucrat or a Poorly Performing Politician, that has not Resolved your Issue ? YAKMATE is your Opportunity to be both Seen & Heard on your Issue until Action is Taken !
